Mavis got lots of good books for Christmas, as you can see, she loves Runny Babbit, while her parents seem to prefer The Night Before Christmas. Silly parents. Posted by Picasa

Mavis doesn't want to leave the Christmas tree, she doesn't see why she has to go into the other room to watch everyone (but her) eat ymmy Christmas dinner. Just wait til next year Mavis. Posted by Picasa

Mavis is emabarassed, Great Granny Nadine is drawing attention to her butt. "Now everyone is looking at my butt!" she said, & tried to hide. She doesn't have any idea how much we all love her baby butt in the satin short pants that make her really slippery to hold onto. Posted by Picasa

Mavis thinks her dress tastes better than it looks. She also apparantly has the best tasting toes in town, with or without shoes. Posted by Picasa

Mavis & Myrna (aka Great 1) share a joke. Mavis never would tell us what was so funny. Posted by Picasa

Mavis & her Great 1 & Great 2

Mavis' Greats 1 & 2 (Great Aunt Myrna, who is holding Mavis, & Great Aunt Montez, who is holding Mogu) gave her the Mogu Joy for Christmas. At Christmas time Mogu was bigger than Mavis, by now however, they're about neck & neck. Mavis likes what Mogu Joy has to say: stay positive, tell a joke, laugh often, enjoy life, make her smile, you bring me joy, celebrate, be happy... (see www.mogu.com/newmogu/catalog/index.jsp?cat_id=10130) Posted by Picasa

Mavis thanks her great granny Nadine for the beautiful Christmas dress. Mavis was hands down the best dressed there. Posted by Picasa

The next day Mavis couldn't wait to tell Grandma that it was Christmas! They talked all about it in the sunroom, next to the Christmas tree. Mavis likes Christmas trees, Christmas lights, Christmas presents... Posted by Picasa

On Christmas Eve Mavis had a great time with Grandpa (while mom took a nap, yeah!), he told her secrets about what Santa brought everyone for Christmas. She later fell asleep before it was time to open presents, & was very mad that her parents opened them for her. She only had one or two, you know. Posted by Picasa

Finally, what Mavis did for Christmas

Mavis has been having some technical difficulties with her computer, but her daddy wrestled it back into submission. Mavis is so happy about that, she can finally show you what she did for Christmas.s Posted by Picasa

Look Daddy, no hands!

First a model, now an acrobat. Yes, Mavis is actually balancing in my hand. (Don't worry, she's only a few inches above the fluffy bed, just in case.) Anyway, apparently all babies can do this -- until they learn to stand on their own, then they lose this ability. If you have a baby of your own, give it a shot. If not, go out and get one. They're lots of fun.Posted by Picasa

Mavis is officially a model now. This photo, taken when Mavis was six weeks old, is featured on the website of very talented photographer Damon Leo. http://www.damonleo.com Posted by Picasa

Daddy, what does pensive mean?

On Saturday we went to James' third birthday party. It was the first time Mavis had been to a birthday party, and the face painting made her very pensive. Posted by Picasa

Grace helps Mavis with her socks & expounds upon the beauty of pink. Mavis remains unconvinced but is wondering about Grace's fine red moustache. Posted by Picasa

Grace & Ben (brother & sister) go at the wishbone from the turkey that Jeff saved for them. Afterwards, we explained to them what soaking in vinegar does to bones... Posted by Picasa

Mavis meets cousin Sarika. Mavis' mom took care of Sarika when she was just 6 months old & introduced her to ice, eating it that is. Sarika agreed not to experiment on Mavis in the same way. Posted by Picasa

Like I said, Mavis loves her winter coat. The concept of winter is new to her. Posted by Picasa

Mavis was thrilled with the opportunity to wear her winter coat. It snowed in Salt Lake City the morning she left, but she didn't really notice. Posted by Picasa

Mavis' uncle Tim & cousin Grace were basking in their glow. I explained to Mavis that most Seattlites love the sun when they see it. Posted by Picasa

Auntie Julie was loving on Mavis. Clearly Mavis was loving on Julie in return. Posted by Picasa

Mavis' uncle Jim hasn't lost his touch with the babies, even though his youngest of 3 babies is 14. I reassured Mavis that even though her forehead looks like his, she will get more hair eventually. Posted by Picasa

Mavis' cousin Laura flexes her biceps while bouncing Mavis, & tells her all about going to state for gymnastics. Mavis responds by trying to insert her fist into her mouth. Posted by Picasa

Thanksgiving: turkey with her mama's people

Mavis doesn't quite compare to the 23 pound Thanksgiving turkey--but just wait until next year! Posted by Picasa
