I guess I should have put this one first. This is Mavis nine weeks into the pregnancy. She was about 1 inch long at this time. I couldn't believe how clear the image is. We had some done later in the pregnancy, but they looked mostly like blobs to me. Posted by Picasa

Mavis on her first outing -- the closing for the refinancing of our mortgage. We thought it would be a nice special treat since, like most babies, she finds legal documents fascinating. Posted by Picasa

Mavis doesn't understand why Grandma won't give her some food. Posted by Picasa

I call this one "Regal Mavis." Notice how big her hands are. I think she is destined for the WNBA. Posted by Picasa

At 29 hours old, Mavis is the world's youngest Elvis fan. Here, you can see that she is imitating the King's pose on her shirt. Posted by Picasa

It's hard to believe how tiny she is. Posted by Picasa

The birthday party. I baked a cake and put a big "zero" candle, and we had a little party. As you can see, Mavis was really into it. Posted by Picasa

Mavis taking her first nap. Yes, I am a terrible father. Her very first chance to get a little sleep and I'm shining bright lights in her face so I can get a good picture. Posted by Picasa

Mavis' first bath. This photo was taken about two hours hours after her birth. She absolutely loved the water. And as you can see from this picture, she was alert and focused from the moment she was born. Posted by Picasa

Mavis is born

Mavis Jane was born at 2:59 am on August 9, 2005, at our home in Austin. It was truly the most amazing thing I've ever seen, and the best moment of my life.
