The good thing about not catching yourself when you fall, is that you can't sprain your wrist. The bad thing is you get mud all over your face & could break your cute nose, if it weren't so small & close to her face still. She was just so excited about going over to these cool trikes in the grassy mud. But she handled it like a trooper.
Mavis' friend Alice came to dinner the other night. Alice enjoyed sitting in Mavy's chair & eating real food too. Is there anything cuter than babies with food all over their faces? Plus Alice has the best smile ever seen on a baby.
On Sunday Mavis decided that it was probably OK for her to walk on her own. Since then, she has been walking all over the place. She's also taken to sitting on the dog's bed and "reading" to him, usually from her favorite book, which is, of course, about football.
The front that has been terrorizing the Midwest finally made it down this way on Saturday. Saturday morning, our part of town got over 6 inches of rain in 6 hours. Here's a video of Bouldin Creek, which is about 500 feet from our house. It's normally just a trickle.
It finally turned to ice Sunday night, and we received a pretty good coating. We've had freezing rain on and off since then, so the roads (bridges, at least) have remained pretty slick. There have been accidents all over town, and just about everything has been shut down for the past couple of days, and probably will be tomorrow also.
Mavis and the dog both have some serious cabin fever, and that is not a good combination. I'm ready for the "Big Thaw of 2007."
We even got some real snow. Huge flakes. It was quite pretty, but quickly turned to sleet.
